Concerns about carcinogens
When I first started looking for bottle nipples, I automatically assumed that latex would be better because it's natural. Not so, however - the FDA recently announced that latex leeches carcinogens (particularly as it gets older) and that early latex exposure can trigger latex allergies later in life. So, at the very least, toss latex nipples the instant they start to get shiny or worn.
